Introduction
welcome to my blog! this is where you'll learn about some indigenous Native American-made jewelry. My name is Itai Minek White. My family and I make indigenous Native American-made jewelry. I've decided to make my blog about something I am passionate about because of what I've learned in this process. The craftsmanship and artistry of Native American-made jewelry have been passed down from generation to generation, my father taught me as will I teach my children. doing this we preserve cultural practices and techniques. It is important to pass on life lessons through art and things that inspire us as Indigenous peoples. As you read this blog I will show you step-by-step how my family and I express our culture through jewelry. It is also important that we practice our tradition together just as our ancestors did before us. Today we continue to be a source of pride and a way to celebrate and honor my heritage. As Indigenous peoples we make what we have inspired by nature around us so that we find comfort in what we wear.

I can't wait for future posts! Your story in very intriguing to me and I would love to hear the history of the making and practice of the jewelry!
ReplyDeletethis is a beautiful topic! as someone who is not particularly connected to their culture (kinda hard to be as a white person with southern heritage, the culture there is a bit... erm.. questionable), its so awesome that you have this connection to yours! excited to see where you take this!
ReplyDeleteThis is so interesting, I am always amazed when people makes things from their own hands.
ReplyDeleteHello Itai, as a student at the University of North Caroline Pembroke, your topic on Native American jewels are this fitting part of the history surrounding the area. Overall, I have faith this blog will have me almost as largely interested in the jewel-making process like your family is.
